What Is Whiskey?

Fifth State Whiskey - Fairfield County's Whiskey

A quick intro to the world of whiskey...

- All are made from a grain (typically barley, corn, wheat, and rye)

- Distilled to below 80% ABV (other countries allow higher, but not in America)

- Typically aged in oak barrels (used American barrels are often reused in other countries like Scotland and Ireland for aging their whiskey)

 

- Different processes and requirements in various different countries

- Bottled at or above 40% ABV

We are very excited to announce that Asylum Gin was awarded a Silver Medal from the American Distilling Institute (ADI) which is the premier institute for craft spirits.

Asylum Gin has also been Certified Craft Distilled by ADI.

2 Classic Martini Recipes

Here are two versions of the Martini for you to try...

Asylum Martini

Martini

3 oz Asylum Gin (or Vodka)
.25 oz Dry Vermouth
Olives or lemon twist for garnish
- Add vermouth to coat ice in mixing glass
- Strain off excess vermouth
- Add Asylum Gin & stir with ice
- Strain into a chilled cocktail glass
- Garnish & Enjoy!

Asylum Martini

50/50 Martini

1.5 oz Asylum Gin
1.5 oz Dry Vermouth (White/Blanc/Bianco)
Olives for garnish
- Stir Asylum Gin & vermouth with ice
- Strain into a chilled cocktail glass
- Garnish with olives & Enjoy!

3 Ingredient Gin Drinks

Here are some simple recipes you can mix up this weekend or really anytime. You can easily make just one or a pitcher full to share with friends.

Bee’s Knees

2 parts gin
1 part honey
1 part lemon juice

Gin Mule

2 parts gin
1 part lime juice
4 parts ginger beer

Negroni

1 part gin
1 part campari
1 part sweet vermouth

Pomegranate Gin Fizz

2 parts pomegranate juice
1 part gin
2 parts soda

Gin Gimlet

2 parts gin
1 part lime
1 part simple syrup
